Zoll AED Plus SCA in Children

by C Allyn Cutts

It is not likely for a child to suffer SCA, however it does happen. In the rare chance it does happen it is a heart wrenching experience. Seven to ten thousand children a year die of sudden cardiac arrest in the USA every year. As the death of one child is a terrible thing, this problem needs attention, by parents and physicians alike. It's always a good idea to know the facts and be informed should your child be one of those who have this type of problem. Family history and other factors will come into play when it comes to finding out if your child has a risk of sudden cardiac arrest. Your child's doctor can perform tests to see if this may be the case.

If by chance your child is at risk for SCA, there is something you can do to help protect him or her from sudden death due to a cardiac arrest. The Zoll AED Plus is a type of treatment similar to what the paramedics use to save the lives of people who are victims of a cardiac arrest. Time is the lifesaver in this case as without immediate treatment the patient is likely to die within minutes, not nearly enough time for an ambulance to arrive on the scene. It will give you a lot more piece of mind having one of these on hand and could very likely save your child's life.

Children more than likely will have a cardiac arrest when they are most active, such as when participating in sports. If your child is active in any type of sports such as basketball, soccer, or just vigorous activity, you need to have a Zoll AED Plus handy just in case.

The area of the brain that controls the heartbeat does not work right in some people, if the signal does not get to the heart to keep pumping, the heart will stop. If this happens sudden death will occur without help. The person is actually already dead unless revived. The Zoll AED Plus can do this. Always keep one of these handy in case of an emergency. It could mean the difference between life and death for your child.

Sometimes a sudden blow to the chest can result in a cardiac arrest. This sometimes happens in a baseball game. A baseball is extremely hard and if struck with one it can cause serious injury. There are other conditions which cause SCA in children. If you have a family history of heart conditions you will want to keep a Zoll AED Plus around just in case a tragedy happens. You can save a life with one of these, maybe your child or the child of a friend.
